Before you run to the pet store to stock up on treats for your pet, take a quick look in your refrigerator for some of these healthy, nutrient rich snacks. Unlike many dog biscuits and similar treats, these fruit and vegetable options are often lower in calories which can bridge the gap between spoiling your pet, and helping them maintain a healthy weight. 

It’s best to start any new treats in small amounts, making sure it agrees with both your pet and their digestive system. And remember, even good foods must have some moderation.
